SORTA HONORS LAMONT TAYLOR WITH ROYAL COACHMAN AWARD

Photo of Melody Sawyer Richardson with Lamont Taylor.CINCINNATI –Lamont Taylor received a Royal Coachman Award from the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) on May 18. Taylor, Employee Relations Representative for Frisch’s Inc./Golden Corral Franchise, served on the SORTA board of trustees for nearly seven years. Taylor was Vice Chair of the SORTA Board from 2004 - 2005 and was Chair of the Board from 2006 - 2007. At the time, he was the youngest transit board chair in the country, and the only member appointed by both the City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.

Taylor also served on SORTA’s Operations and Management committee, and was one of the nine inaugural board of trustee members for the Everybody Rides Metro (ERM) Foundation from 2006 - 2009. As an ERM Board member, he personally raised $5,000 in funds for ERM during 2006. In 2009, Taylor received the “Rider Cup Award” in recognition of his service at ERM’s annual luncheon.

“When SORTA board members leave, we like to bestow the Royal Coachman Award to honor their commitment to the development and betterment of public transportation,” said Melody Sawyer Richardson, SORTA board chair. “It’s our way to say ‘thank you’ to Lamont for his contributions. He was a represented the community well.”

In Taylor’s role at Frisch’s Inc./Golden Corral Franchise, he is responsible for employee relations and non-exempt recruitment for Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. He had previously worked for Federal Express and the Greater Cincinnati Urban League. He serves as the vice president of Finance for the National Human Resource Association.

Taylor has been actively involved in the community. He is the newest board member for Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services (HCDDS) and was recently chair of the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority. He also served as past president of the Corryville Community Council and board member for the Cincinnati Empowerment Zone, Cincinnati Works, and Corryville Community Development Corporation. He lives in Kennedy Heights.
